Albert Joseph Wahnon Jr., 84, formerly from Gibraltar, passed away on Sunday, June 23rd at his home in Romance, Arkansas. He was born October 24, 1929, to the late Albert Wahnon Sr. and Angela (Lopez) Wahnon.
Albert served in the Gibraltar Regiment as a young man and later in the Gibraltar Police Force as a Police dog handler and trainer. Albert immigrated with his family to Canada at the age of 36. He wanted to give his daughters more opportunities in life. There he worked at General Motors for 12 years as a pipefitter and maintenance Welder. As an adult, Albert gave his life over to the Lord Jesus Christ and had a burden to work for God. He completed his Minister’s Degree and became an ordained minister. He started the first Spanish-speaking Church in Canada with his wife. This church is still in operation and thriving. After his first grandchild was born, Albert and his wife immigrated to the United States to be with their family. He loved his family, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren dearly. Albert enjoyed gardening, farming, breeding and raising canaries and goats, and generally being outside. He always had a soft spot for animals. Albert’s true love was his wife Margaret and the Lord Jesus Christ. He was married to Margaret for 66 years and he worked for and served the Lord fervently until he departed this earth. All of us who knew him can remember his happy little jig when he would worship the Lord.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 66 years, Margaret Wahnon; two daughters, Angela Herring (Avery) of Searcy, and Margaret Whitley (Daniel) of Rose Bud; three grandchildren, Joel Whitley (Mae) of Searcy, Erin Wallace (Spenser) of Searcy, and Grace Whitley of Rose Bud; three great-grandchildren, Amos Boone, Simeon, and Til, with Caroline on the way; one brother, Angel Wahnon (Amalia) of Ottawa, Canada; one sister, Sandra Morris (Harry) of Bridgenorth, Shropshire, England; and several nieces, nephews, and friends.
