Barbara Nelda Gibson

Barbara Nelda Gibson, age 81, passed to rest on August 3, 2024, at Unity Hospital in Searcy, Arkansas. Barbara was born July 13, 1943, in Richmond, Virginia to the now late Mr. and Mrs. W.W. Hatten. Barbara was the oldest of 3. She had younger twin sisters, Connie and Vickie.

Barbara traveled and lived around the world as a military wife and mother. She had two daughters, Carrie Gibson of Georgetown, Texas and youngest daughter Debbie Chapman of Cabot, Arkansas She pursued a Home Economics degree at Harding University and later walked with the class of 1987. Her greatest pursuit was her faith in Christ Jesus. She shared her faith and God’s love with all of those around her and shined her light throughout all her 81 years. She was a Nana first to her four grandchildren, Haley, Jared, Carrigan and Victoria. She taught “Thank you God for the food we eat. Thank you, God, for the birds that sing. Thank you God for everything”, to her grandchildren and then later to her 11 great-grandchildren, Rhiannon, Isaiah, Lillian, Elijah, Solomon, Allison, Abigail, Gideon, Madelynn, Olive, and Caitlyn. 

Barbara will have a private family service. She loved many and was loved by many including her best friend of several years Peggy Hanes. She loved her Texas family and of course her Airport Loop Church of Christ family. In lieu of flowers we ask that you donate to her home church, Airport Loop Church of Christ, 1100 Airport Loop, Searcy, AR 72143 in her name for mission work.
