Betty Jo Baker

Betty Jo Baker, 82, of Searcy, died November 27, 2010. She was born in Pangburn, Arkansas, the daughter of C.F. and Ruby Crosby on November 17, 1928.
At the age of 15 she married O.C. Baker Jr. on June 18, 1944.

After their marriage, Betty helped her husband manage a cafAC. while still in high school, and later went on to teach in a rural school.
After WWII, she and her husband moved to Michigan to work in the auto industry. While in Michigan she gave birth to twin sons, then, in 1958, moved back to Searcy, where her third son was born.

Betty was employed by Wal-Mart for many years. She was also a longtime member of the Westside Church of Christ, where she taught Bible classes. Betty spent the last few years as the devoted caregiver for her husband.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 66 years, O.C. Baker Jr.; children, Donnie Baker and wife Rena of Clarksville, Ron Baker and wife Janyth of Searcy, Kevin Baker of Louisville, Ky.; and one sister, Norma Rogers and husband Oliver of Bloomington, Indiana. She also leaves seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren

Preceding her in death is one sister, Glenna Crosby; her father, C.F. Crosby; mother, Ruby Crosby, and step mother, Iva Crosby.

Visiting hours will be held Monday November 29 from 6-7:30 PM at the Searcy-McEuen Chapel in Searcy, Arkansas.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Tuesday at the Westside Church of Christ in Searcy.

Interment will follow in Oakgrove Cemetery under the direction of Searcy-McEuen Funeral Home.
