Betty Washington Clemons, 90, of Searcy passed from this life Saturday, July 20, 2013 at White County Medical Center. She was born April 27, 1923 in Newport, Arkansas to the late William B. and Willie Mae Clay Washington.
Mrs. Clemons was a lifelong member of St. Mary's CME Church where she had served at President of the Stewardesses Board & numerous other offices as well. Prior to her retirement, she was employed by St. Vincent's Hospital.
She was united in marriage to Teemus Preston Clemons who preceded her in death on June 14, 1996. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Lois Lambert; two brothers, Eddie Hardin Sr. and Joseph McDonald Hardin; twin sisters, Martha Smith and Mary Gates as well as her sister Deborah Washington Tuggle.
Her memory will be forever cherished by family and friends including daughter, Barbara Jones and husband Lennis of Desoto, Texas; grandchildren, Lennis Jones II and Lenesha Jones; sister, Naomi Cantrell of Atlanta, Georgia; as well as the numerous friends and extended family.
Family and friends may visit 6:00-7:30 p.m. Thursday, July 25 at Searcy-McEuen Funeral Home with a Reflections Service at 6:30 p.m. Home Going Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday in the Searcy-McEuen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. William Gant officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.
