Betty Louise Penn

Betty Louise Penn age 90, of Judsonia, AR. passed away Sunday, August 30, 2009. She was born in Dayton, Ohio on May 25, 1919 to the late Oscar and Katherine (Ebbs) Penn.

Betty was a very interesting individual and had many accomplishments throughout her life. She was the first women in Ohio to receive a real estate license. Betty worked as an executive secretary for A.E. Knoltan Construction Company located in Bellfountaine, Ohio (Near Cincinnati) for over forty years. After relocating to Arkansas, in the Heber Springs area, she was the co-developer of Cherokee Estates located in Greer's Ferry. The last eight years Betty lived with her adopted family in Judsonia. Betty was active in many community organizations wherever she lived. Betty loved telling the many stories of her life especially of the early nineteen hundreds with one of the most interesting was her relationship with the Cincinnati Reds baseball club of which she was very supportive. Also, her and her ex-husbands life experiences with the establishment and operation of a brothel.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Don Penn and her ex-husband, Richard Bowman.

She is survived by her adopted family, Lewis E. Hulvey and his wife Gwyn of Judsonia. Also, survived by many friends in the Judsonia/Searcy area.

Memorial service will be held 4:00 P.M., Sunday, September 6, 2009 at the Church of the Healing God, 246 Yankee Road Judsonia, Arkansas (501) 207-3394
