Betty Faye Young

Betty Faye Young, 90, of Searcy, Arkansas passed away Saturday, March 22, 2025. She was born March 14, 1935 in Cash, Arkansas to Maurice Eugene Slattery and Minnie Jewel Price Slattery. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lawrence Sidney Young; brothers, George Slattery, Eugene Slattery; sons, Jim Young, Fernon Hendrix; daughters, Martha Chapman, Sharon Horton; and a grandson, Michael Breger.

Mama was as a mighty tree full of wisdom and longevity. Her gnarley branches represent her 13 kids. Each filled with many memories. The leaves represent her many grand/great-grand/and great-great grankids – are as the many leaves - hard to count - Mama’s branches & leaves listen to the wind blowing through – singing. Mama sang God’s praise. Mama as the tree offered shade/comfort and so much more. The lesson’s of her strength taught us we can overcome the challenges of life and can grow.

She is survived by her children, Lila Conner (Tony) of Wellston, Ok, Edward Hendrix (Tressa) of Judsonia, AR, Maurice Hendrix (Petra) of Judsonia, AR, Royce Hendrix (Alma) of Purcell, OK, Boyce Hendrix (Rita), John Hendrix of Searcy, AR Lisa Clark (Jerry) of Pangburn, AR, Shelley James of Eileen, TX, Larry Young (Leanna) of Lubbock, TX; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

A visitation will be held at Searcy McEuen Funeral Home on Thursday, March 27, 2025 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. A funeral service celebrating Betty’s life will be held on Friday, March 28, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Searcy McEuen Funeral Home.
