Clayton Steel Whitener, 79, died Friday July 21, 2006 in Judsonia. Born September 2, 1926 in Cave City, Arkansas, he was the son of the late Grover and Ruth Grissom Whitener. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII, a member of the United Carpenter's Union and a past member of the Lions Club.
He is survived by one son Michael Whitener of Pangburn, Arkansas; two daughters, Bonnie Hardcastle of Pangburn, and Brenda Greer of Searcy; two brothers, Howard Whitener of Batesville and Carthel Dean Whitener of Judsonia; one sister, Gertrude Scott of Missouri. He is preceded in death by his wife Martha Neal Whitener; a son, Terry Whitener; four brothers, Norman Thomas, Harold Whitener, Neal Whitener, Dudley Whitener; and one sister Peggy.
Visitation will beheld 3:00-4:00 PM on Sunday, July 23, 2006 at Searcy-McEuen Funeral Home. Services will be held at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri at 2:00 PM on Tuesday.
