Dorothy C. Adams, 74, of Searcy passed away Saturday, July 11, 2009. Born November 14, 1934 to the late Herbert and Luma Day Chatman, she was a member of the St. Mary's C.M.E. Methodist Church.
Dorothy started working at the age of twelve at what was know as Porter Rodger's Hospital on Woodruff Street. From there she moved to White County Hospital and then to Central Arkansas Hospital until her health forced her to retire . She worked as a surgical nurse and loved her job. At Central Hospital, she was named nurse of the year in 2003.
She is survived by a son, John A. Hendrix, Jr. (Vicky) of Lonoke, five daughters; Virginia Brewer (Ace) of Kensett, Eileen Hendrix of Searcy, Johnetta Hart of West Point, Lumie Harris, (Roy) of Bald Knob, and Kathy Adams of Searcy, three sisters; Rose Whitmore of Texarkana, Texas, Felicia Marks of Searcy, and Theressa Frazier of Searcy, thirteen grandchildren and twenty four great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at 11:00A.M. in the chapel of Searcy-McEuen Funeral Home with Rev. Carl Parks officiating. Family will great guests from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. at the Funeral Home.
