Effie Irene Whitehurst

Effie Irene DuBose Whitehurst, 97, of Searcy departed this life November 9, 2012. She was born January 7, 1915 in Cato, Arkansas to the late R.M. and Lizzie Dubose.

Mrs. Whitehurst moved to Searcy in 1919, and has attended the Church of God since 1959.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Doc Whitehurst; one granddaughter, Amanda Whitehurst; four brothers, Jim, Claude, Lawrence and Wayne DuBose; three sisters, Cordie Gaines, Agnes Porter, and Alice Perry.

She is survived by her son, David Whitehurst and wife Brenda; daughter, Judy Scott and husband Vic; three grandsons, Chad Whitehurst, Steven Zweifel, and David Zweifel; four great-grandchildren, Shelby, Briar, Jordan, and Ashton; and two special friends, Marilyn Mingues and Winona Weathers.

Visiting hours will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, November 13 at the Searcy-McEuen Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday in the Searcy-McEuen Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at Foster's Chapel Cemetery.
