Ernest Wilbur Parsons, Sr. 64 of Griffithville passed from this life on Tuesday, October 24, 2006. He was born August 15, 1942 in Higginson, Arkansas the son of Joe Chambers and Ada Claudine Waggle Parsons. First Sergeant Parsons (retired) was an honorable and highly decorated 20 year veteran of the United States Army and served in the Vietnam War. Faithful to the Lord, he was a devoted husband; loving and compassionate father; excellent and wise teacher; and was much loved by his family. As a member of the American Legion, he spent countless hours as an advocate for veteran's benefits. He will be sincerely missed. He is preceded in death by his father, Joe Chambers Parsons.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Sue Parsons of Griffithville; one son, Ernest Wilbur Parsons, Jr. and wife Sally Jane of Beckley, W.V.; two daughters, Charlisa Sue Wood and husband Mark Johann of Higginson; Angela Pearce and husband Garrett R. of Lakenheath, England; six brothers, Odas Edwards Parsons of Benton; Elvis Doyle Parsons of Pangburn; Paul Dean Parsons of Searcy; Danny Parsons of Searcy; James David Parsons of Griffithville; Eddie Lynn Parsons of Florida; six sisters, Dorothy Irene Hendrix of McRae; Ruby Faye Burns of Beebe; Joann Kidd of Searcy; Patsy Dean Zachary of Higginson; Sandra Kay Donette Snelson of Higginson; Metza Louise Edwards of Greer's Ferry; eight grandchildren, Autumne Ryan McDonald; Corey Daniel Wood; Allen Cameron Wood; Eric Quincy Wood; Helena Lindsey Nash; Jessie Lee Nash; Hannah Jane Parsons; Abigail Parsons; seven great grandchildren, Raegan Madison Wood; Emma Kathryn Wood; Kaitlyn Grace Wood; Ashton; Ian Powell McDonald; Keaton Avery Wood; Mason Cross Wood; several nieces and nephews.
