Gail Canter

September 30, 1950 — August 5, 2011

Gail Duncan Canter, 60, of Searcy, passed quietly from this earth Friday, August 5, 2011, into the presence of God. She was born September 30, 1950 in Searcy to the late Charlie & Irene Duncan. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a sister, Debbie Ann Duncan; and brother, Vernon Duncan.

She is survived by her husband Allen Canter of Searcy; brothers, Carlton Duncan of Houston and James Duncan of Searcy; sisters, Rose Cooley of Little Rock, Sue Hill of Des Arc, Billie Sledge of Mesquite, Texas, Glynda Duncan of Clarksdale, Mississippi, and special family friend Shawn Key of North Little Rock; as well as numerous nephews and nieces. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Searcy and retired from Maytag after 30 years of service.

Gail fought a long and courageous 10 year battle with ovarian cancer. Though often in great pain as the disease ravaged her body, Gail never gave in to the disease and never gave up on her healing. She welcomed death with great expectations of peaceful rest. Her last months were spent in peace and quiet with her dog, Mattie, at the home of her sister in Texas. She will be missed by all that knew her.

Services have been entrusted to Searcy-McEuen Funeral Home. Viewing will be 6-8 p.m. Monday, August 8 at the funeral home. Funeral services will be conducted 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August, 9 at First Baptist Church in Searcy with Bro. David Crouch officiating.
