Gary Lynn Smothers, 65, of Higginson died January 17, 2011 at his residence. He was born December 31, 1945 in Alicia, Arkansas to Earl and Nevada Smothers. He attended Dogwood Methodist Church. He served in the army in Germany during the Vietnam War.
He is preceded in death by his dad, Earl Smothers.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Lewis; his mother, Nevada Smothers of Mayflower; two sons, Gary Lynn Smothers, II of Judsonia, and DeWayne Lewis of League City, Texas; two daughters, Kelly (Mike) Fulmer and Shelly (Keith) Pike both of Searcy; two brothers, Larry (Jean) Smothers of Little Rock and Mike (Helen) Smothers of Beebe; one sister, Gail Griffey of Little Rock; Grandchildren, Lynsey Graham, Jacob Fulmer, Whitney Piety, Lauren Pike, Austin Pike, Morgan Fulmer and Samuel Hooper; and one great-grandchild, Abbygail Graham as well as several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A memorial service is scheduled for 2:00 P.M, Sunday, January 23, 2011 at Dogwood Methodist Church in Griffithville, AR.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the Dogwood Methodist Church Building fund or Cemetery fund or the charity of your choice.
Directions to the church: At intersection of Hwy. 11 and 385 at Griffithville, go south on McDonald Road to Fletcher Ellis Road. Turn right to Dogwood Road. Follow this until you see the church.
