On Monday, January 2, 2023 Darlene Murphree or as many knew her as Grammy, a beloved mother, wife, grandmother and friend, passed away at the age of 67. Born to Vernon Paul and Lester Mae Barnett, Darlene grew up in Gravel Hill before she met her husband, Nathan of 39 years. Darlene spent many years working as a travel agent before she recently settled into a dream job of running a flea market full of antiques, restorations, and handmade decor. She loved being able to work daily with friends and family. Darlene had a green thumb and loved plants of all kinds. She could bring any half-gone plant back to full potential with her broad knowledge of greenery.
Darlene was survived by her husband, Nathan Murphree, her daughters, Bridget Covington (Ed), Robyn Stamper (Chris), and Misty Allison (Scott); grandchildren, Jr Covington (Brittany), Raegan Woods (Garrett), Bailey Stamper, Gage Stamper, Luke Allison, Easton Allison, Spencer Allison and AJ Allison; as well as, great grandchildren, Ethan Covington, Lynley Covington, Kennedi Covington, and Jaxon Skillern.
In addition to a loving family, Darlene was blessed with a circle of friends who were considered family.
