Herman Herbert Dry, 78, of the Stringham Road community in Higginson, Arkansas, went to be with his Lord on Thursday, December 12, 2024. He was born on October 27, 1946, in Brinkley, Arkansas, to Kenneth G. Dry and Flora E. Bunker Dry.
Herbert was a member of New Morrow Baptist Church, where he had previously pastored and still taught Sunday morning classes. When needed, he also filled in to preach. He had been in the Lord’s service for over fifty years including pastorate positions, radio, and jail ministries.
He worked in hospital maintenance for many years and enjoyed woodworking and farming cattle in his free time. After retirement, he wrote many books and poems. He was a prankster at heart and always liked the laughter he brought to others. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 58 years, Linda Wells Dry, two daughters, Angela Dry Goff of Kensett, Amy Dry Neal (Carl) of the Stringham Road community, five grandchildren, Ashley Alexander (Santiago), Kristen Dukes (Tristan), Adrian Neal, Nathan Neal, and Jacob Neal, seven great grandchildren, Brooklyn, Trinity, Keira, Timarah, Josie, Cayde, Rylyn, and one great grandbaby on the way. He will also be missed by many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his son, Jared Dry, his parents, Kenneth and Flora Bunker Dry, and his brother, Loyd Dry.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, December 17, 2024 from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. all in the chapel at Searcy McEuen Funeral Home. Burial will be at Dogwood Cemetery. Arrangements by Searcy McEuen Funeral Home. www.searcymceuenfuneralhome.com.
