Homer Oliver Hendron Jr., 95, of Mabelvale, formerly of Searcy, died December 3, 2010 at his residence. The son of the late Homer Hendren Sr. and Flossie May Akin; he was born October 23, 1915 in Haywood County, Tennessee.
Mr. Hendron was a proud Marine during WWII, having served at the battle of Iwo Jima; he was also a member of the Village Creek Baptist Church in Shannon Hills. He spent majority of his career in a flooring mill, retiring as the superintendent of the mill. After retirement in the flooring mill, Homer became a greeter for Wal-Mart. He loved his job and did it well, as he smiled and truly greeted everyone as they came and left the store. He continued as the greeter until his health forced him to retire completely three years ago.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Hendron was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Davis White; three brothers and four sisters.
Left to cherish his memory is his daughter, Ellen Kay Christensen and husband Ron of Mabelvale; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visiting hours will be held Tuesday December 7 from 6-8 PM at the Searcy-McEuen Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Wednesday December 8th in the Searcy-McEuen Funeral Home Chapel.
Interment will follow in White County Memorial Gardens under the direction of Searcy-McEuen Funeral Home.
