Jerry Wayne Slayton

Jerry Wayne Slayton, 78, of Searcy, gained his heavenly wings on Wednesday, September 7, 2022, at his home while surrounded by his family. He was born September 18, 1943, to the late Seth and Lorene Slayton.

 Jerry is survived by his wife of over fifty-nine years Brenda Sue Shands Slayton; two daughters -Stephanie Butler (Brice) and Stacy Sanders (Jerry); four grandchildren-Justin Butler (Lauren), Chelsey Roberts (Tyler), Aaron Sanders (Mary Mills), and Tori Sanders; and four great-grandchildren-Avriann, Adaleigh, Annastyn, and Graylen. He is also survived by a sister, Carolyn Leehy (Glen) of Missouri along with a multitude of friends and extended family.

His parents along with two sisters, Barbara Hearn and Kim Engle, and two brothers, James, and Kenneth Slayton preceded him in death.

Jerry will be remembered as a talented mechanic who owned Slayton’s Garage in Searcy for almost forty years. Upon retirement, he moved his shop to the farm where his loyal loafing buddies continued to gather daily. He also enjoyed cattle farming, gardening, fishing, and hunting.

Visitation will be on Saturday, September 10, 2022, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Searcy McEuen Funeral Home. Services will be held Sunday, September 11, 2022, at 2:00 pm at Searcy McEuen Funeral Home with interment to follow at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery
