Kenneth Wayne Cook, 68, of Searcy, Arkansas, passed peacefully at
home on Wednesday, September 14, 2022.
Wayne was born on December 4, 1953, to Kenneth Cecil and Mary Lena
Cook in Iraan, Texas. After graduating from Searcy High School, he enlisted in the
U.S. Navy and had an exciting career serving on numerous ships, including the USS
Constitution better known as Old Ironsides as Command Chief as well as many
other varied tours of duty. Wayne achieved the rank of Senior Chief Boatswain
mate before retiring in 2001 to be close to family. After retiring he served as a
Probation Officer for the City of Searcy.
In 1974, while home on leave, Wayne met Lillie Edwards. They married in
1975 and had two children Michael Cook (Tia) and Traci Smith (Eric). His
grandchildren are Madison Cook Cole (Blake) and Olivia Ethridge, Kate James, Lily
James and Jackson James. He has one great-granddaughter Emriella who held a
special place in his heart.
After moving to the family farm in 2020, Wayne found solace in farm life and
truly enjoyed nature and watching the wildlife that appeared frequently to enhance
the landscape.
Wayne was predeceased by his grandparents and his father. He is survived by
his mother, brother Tony Cook and sister Debbie Bond, along with aunts, uncles,
cousins and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at Searcy McEuen Funeral Home on Saturday,
September 24, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. with visitation preceding the service from 12:30
p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the St. Paul Catholic Cemetery in Searcy.
