Larry Carver Stephens

August 13, 1945 — June 17, 2011

Larry Carver Stephens, 65, of Searcy, died June 17, 2011 following a battle with cancer, but now has won the crown of Life he's waited for. He was born August 13, 1945 in Vanport City, Oregon to the late George W. and Frances Jewel Massey Stephens.

He was a member of the River of Life church in Judsonia; a professional boxer in the 1960's; he loved sports; some of his favorite teams were the Chicago Bears and Arkansas Razorbacks. His greatest joy was spending time with his family. Mr. Stephens recorded some thoughts and which he said, "I leave my loving cherished wife, children and grandchildren; I love my Lord. I love gospel music, especially the Gaither's. The grandchildren were my joy in my life here on earth; they made my day.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Stephens was preceded in death by one sister, Gloria Jane Green.

Those left to cherish the memories are his loving wife of 45 years, Florence Davis Stephens; two sons, Michael W. Stephens of Santa Barbara, Ca. and Jonathan M. Stephens of Searcy; one daughter, Janie L. Stout of Searcy; one brother, Charles Stephens and wife Desta of Arizona; one sister, Evelyn Forrest of Oxnard Ca.; thirteen grandchildren as well as a host of other nieces, nephews and family.

Visiting hours will be held Friday, June 24 from 6-8 PM at the River of Life Church in Judsonia.

A Celebration of Life service will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday June 25 at the River of Life Church with Bro. Keith Tomlinson and Bro. Carl Medley officiating.

Interment will follow in Kensett Cemetery under the direction of Searcy-McEuen Funeral Home.

The family wishes to express their gratitude for the wonderful care that was given to Larry by the Hospice Home Care of Searcy.
