Ludie Mae Allen Shourd, 100, passed away May 6, 2015 at The Crossing at Riverside in Searcy Arkansas. She was born June 4, 1914 to James Edward Allen and Virgie Mae Elizabeth Shelton Allen.
Ludie was a farmer and homemaker, a lady of strong faith, having a strong heart of gold, and a wonderful mother to her children which she loved dearly. She was funny, wise and everyone who met her, loved her. The CNA's at The Crossing at Riverside, felt as though she was their mother and they loved her dearly.
She was the oldest member at Crosby Baptist Church and was a member for 83 years.
In addition to her parents and her husband of 61 years, John Jacob Shourd, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Virgil and Tony Allen; two sisters, Lula Stinnett and Lillian Branscum; a son, Allen Wayne Shourd; a daughter, Glenda Faye Harris and a grandson, Larry Wayne Langford.
Survivors include sons, Jim Shourd of Griffithville, Vernon (Peggy) Shourd of Bald Knob and Lonnie (Glenda) Shourd of Scotts Hill, TN; and daughters Virgie (Mike) Gordon of Searcy, Brenda Rutledge of Hennessey, OK and Ruth Ann Bennett of Searcy; 28 grandchildren, 62 great grandchildren and 28 great, great grandchildren,.
Visitation will be from 5 pm - 7 pm, Friday, May 8, 2015 at Searcy McEuen Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm. Saturday, May 9, 2015 at Crosby Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery.
