Mary "Sis" Laverne Barnett, 86, of Beebe passed away Wednesday, October 19th at Beebe Retirement Center. She was born April 8, 1930 in Rose Bud, Arkansas to the late James and Flora Lea (Wiggs) Edwards.
Mary was a member of Floyd Methodist Church. She enjoyed quilting and gardening. She loved to volunteer her time. Mary was on the Floyd Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary and volunteered for 35 years at the Floyd Extension Service.
Left to cherish Laverne's memory is her husband of 70 years and 9 months, William C. Barnett; one son, Jerry Barnett of Benton, Arkansas; one daughter, Karen Stroud of Beebe, Arkansas; three grandchildren, Todd Buck, Jeremy Trahan, Blake Barnett; seven great grandchildren, Elijah Hodge, Gavin and Blake Smith, Will and Drew Buck, Sawyer Barnett and Finley Barnett; one brother, J.B. Edwards of Willow Springs, Missouri; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents Mary was preceded in death by one daughter, Sandra Buck; and a host of brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, October 21st at Searcy-McEuen Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 22nd Romance Cemetery with Bro. Mark Quick officiating.
