Mary Madalene Phipps

March 31, 1913 — February 7, 2009

Mary Madalene Phipps, 95, of Searcy, our beloved mother, grandmother, and friend passed this Saturday, February 7, 2009. Always kind-hearted, always gentle, always forgiving - she will be remembered for the love she showed her family and her generosity to all those around her.

A faithful member of The Church of Christ, she humbly served God throughout her life, and volunteered for many years with the White County Auxiliary. She was born in El Paso, Arkansas on March 31, 1913 to Jesse and Hattie Emison.

She is preceded in death by her husband of fifty-four years, Grover E. Phipps, her parents, one son, Lawrence Dale Phipps, and a brother, Emitt Emison.

Survivors are her children, five daughters and two sons: Hilda Clay (Donnie), Jo Ann Ridings (David), Carthel Phipps, all of Searcy, Arkansas, Bernice Archer (Burl) of North Little Rock, La Vern Phipps of Anacortes, Washington, Wilbur Phipps (Len) of De Soto, Texas, and Linda Tarleton of Mabank, Texas, a sister, Gladys Pound of Eugene, Oregon, eighteen grandchildren, thirty-two great-grandchildren, twelve great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be Tuesday, February 10, 2009, 2:00 PM at Searcy - McEuen Funeral Home. Visitation is1:00 to 2:00 PM prior to service. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Garden.
