Mary Jane Rainey

July 12, 1939 – December 20, 2024

Mary Jane Griffin Hatfield Rainey of Higginson, Arkansas, went home to be with her Lord early in the morning on December 20, 2024.

She was born in Batesville, AR on July 12, 1939 to Doyle E. Griffin and Esther Glendine Johnson Griffin. She was raised by her mother Glendine and her wonderful stepfather Ernest Carpenter in Cave City, Arkansas. 

She attended school at Cave City and was a 1957 graduate. She worked many years as a sales clerk and did volunteer work. She was a past member of First Missionary Baptist Church in Cave City, then First General Baptist Church in Higginson, and was a current member of Higginson Church of Christ.

She is survived by her son, David Hatfield of Kensett, AR; two daughters, Sue Morgan of Lonoke, AR and Marsha Finch of Millington, TN; three granddaughters, Amanda Finch of California, Lori Moran of Lonoke, AR and Jennifer Morris of KY.; three great granddaughters, Dixie, Gabrielle and Cheyanne Morris of KY; two great grandsons, Logan Finch of CA and Maddux Moran of Lonoke, AR; one brother Gerald Carpenter of LA and Charlene Crafton of Cave City, AR.

She leaves a host of friends. Especially her neighbors Marvin and Brenda Mathis & family who truly did love their neighbor as themselves.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Hermon Hatfield of 45 years; her husband, Wilburn Rainey of 8 years; two sisters, Joy Goforth and Sue Kelly; one brother, Richard Griffin and her precious granddaughter, Kimberly Pilgrim.

Visitation will be held Thursday, December 26, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Searcy McEuen Funeral Home with services to follow at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in the White County Memorial Gardens. Arrangements entrusted to Searcy McEuen Funeral Home. www.searcymceuenfuneralhome.com
