Matthew Leigh Metheny 22 of Searcy, AR. went to be with his Lord and Saviour Tuesday, November 18, 2008 after a long battle with leukemia. He was born March 28, 1986 the son of Kim and Lynee' Metheny. Matt was baptized on March 26, 2002 and was a member of the Westside Church of Christ.
Matt can say the words of Paul in II Timothy 4: 7 - 8, "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award me on that day - and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing."
Matt loved God with all his heart and soul. Matthew loved all of God's creation and especially the birds and gardening. He attended ASU - Beebe on a full scholarship when he became sick. He received an award from the Society for Outstanding Scholastic Achievement and Worthy Character. He always put others needs and feelings above his own, calling his grandparents after a chemo treatment to reassure them. Matt's gentle spirit and sweet smile permeated the entire room.

Matthew is survived by his parents; one brother, Joshua Metheny of Searcy; Maternal grandparents, Wallace and Joy Graves of Sterlington, LA.; Paternal grandmother, Freda Metheny of Monette, AR.; many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends all who loved him dearly and will miss truly him.
Visitation will be 6 - 8 P.M., Wednesday, November 19, 2008 at the funeral home.
Funeral Service will be 10:00 A.M., Thursday, November 20, 2008, at Searcy-McEuen Funeral Home in Searcy, AR.
Interment will follow the funeral service at 4:00 P.M. in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Bastrop, LA.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to Harvest Sunday Worldwide Missions or to Paragould Children's Home.
