Maxine Lula (Drake) Lewis, 96, of Lakeport, California formerly of Letona passed away Saturday, September 1, 2018, from respiratory failure. Her work career included Beckman Instruments in Richmond; Zehntel in Walnut Creek; and G & L Manufacturing in Richmond. She always stayed busy with family, gardening, cooking, traveling, fishing, and other activities she enjoyed.
Maxine was born in Letona, Arkansas, May 31, 1922 and graduated from Pangburn High School in 1940. She met the love of her life, William Allen (Buster) Lewis, in Walker, Arkansas, and they were married on February 28, 1941. They lived happily until Buster’s death December 9, 1994. Maxine’s father, William Dewey Drake Sr.; mother, Beulah Stolz Drake; and brother, William Dewey Drake Jr., all preceded her in death.
Maxine was also preceded in death by two sons; James Allen Lewis, and William Donald Lewis.
Left to cherish Maxine’s memory are two daughters, Carole Ruth Millner of Soldotna, Alaska; and Linda Diana Green of Portland, Oregon; four granddaughters, Sonya Renee Prophet of San Pablo, California; Jamie Leigh Daniel of Benicia, California; Lisa Lynn Higgs of Letona, Arkansas, and Diana Carole Clark of Ivor, Virginia; two grandsons, Richard Allen Green of Porterville, California; and John Vernon Green of Portland, Oregon; twelve great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. Too many “Greats” to name individually. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and their families that she loved like her own children.
Visitation will be Friday, September 14th from 5:00-8:00 pm at Searcy McEuen Funeral Home.
Graveside service will be Saturday, September 15th at 10:00 am at Dogwood Cemetery in Griffithville under the direction of Searcy McEuen Funeral Home.
In Lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to a charity of your choice.
