Mrs. Norma Jean Jarrard Ranes, age 91, of Searcy, Arkansas, peacefully passed away to her heavenly home on March 13, 2024. She was born on January 25, 1933, in Summersville, Missouri, to Edward and Ruby Jarrard. Norma graduated from West Plains High School in 1950 and pursued her college education at Harding University.
She is preceded in death by her loving parents, Edward and Ruby Jarrard, her devoted husband of 43 ½ years, Jerry L. Ranes, and a beloved son, Roger T. Ranes.
Norma is survived by her daughter, Karen K. Ranes of Batesville, Arkansas. She is also survived by her four grandchildren, Jessica M. Briggs (Kevin) of Beebe, Arkansas, Jennifer M. Swafford (Ethan) of Vilonia, Arkansas, David M. Walls of Beebe, Arkansas, and Taylor A. Walls of Beebe, Arkansas. Additionally, Norma leaves behind two great-grandchildren, Landon M. Briggs and Abigail R. Briggs, as well as her sister, Carole J. Hawkins (Richard) of Roanoke, Virginia, and a special niece, Vickie L. Daugherty of Judsonia, Arkansas.
The family expresses gratitude to Karen Chalenburg, Margie Boersma, and many other members of Highway Church of Christ for their unwavering support and care for Norma.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at Highway Church of Christ, 128 Highway Church Lane in Judsonia, Arkansas. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Judsonia, Arkansas. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests contributions to the Paragould Children’s Home, 5515 Walcott Rd., Paragould, Arkansas 72450.
