Oran Willard Townsend, was born on October 24, 1915 to William T. Townsend and Addie Hooper Townsend at Gravel Hill, Arkansas. He passed away at Judsonia, Arkansas on November 10, 2006 at the age of 91 years. He was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, first at Fosters Chapel then at Searcy, where he was an Elder until 1980, when he was baptized by L. Bert Edwards, pastor of Kensett First Baptist Church. He loved the Lord and attended services faithfully until his health became so bad he had to stop in January 2005. Other pastors were Bro. Don Settles, Bro. Douglas Duncan and Bro. Joe Clement. Mr. Townsend was in the Army Infantry in Europe during WWII. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Cordie Townsend; and four brothers, Lowell, Bert, Floyd and Doyle Townsend.
He is survived by his wife, Arline (Coles) Townsend, to whom he was married for more than 69 years; one son, William Kenneth Townsend and wife Susan; one daughter, Wilma Elizabeth Townsend Cross and husband Kenneth; one brother, E.C. Townsend and wife Naomi; two sisters, Dortha Butler and husband Joe, and Reba Brown; six grandsons, Kyle Cross and wife Krissy, Kenny Cross, Neil Cross, Vance Cross, Blake Cross and Jason Townsend; three granddaughters, Whitney Richardson and husband Brent, Lilah Warn and husband Jarod, and Alexis Sutton and husband Aaron; ten great-grandchildren, Tyler, Matthew and Parker Cross, Desiree, Kagan, Dane and Rigdon Richardson, Laney Warn, and Kaitland and Talon Townsend; and many friends.
