Paul Byron Wenger

Paul Byron Wenger Jr., 81, of Searcy, died March 13, 2011. Mr. Wenger was born June 2, 1929 in Gulfport, Mississippi to the late Paul and Bessie Mae King Wenger Sr.

Mr. Wenger served in the U.S. Navy and was a 35 year retiree from the Naval Reserve. He was also a Machinist, Patrolman for Harrison County, and worked for the Harrison County School System.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 28 years, Doris Martin Wenger; one son, Joseph Paul Wenger of Topeka, Kansas; one daughter, Rev. Rebecca Shields of Laurie, Missouri; three step-sons, Cliff Greene of Harrison, Ark., Larry Greene of Conway, Ark., and Marty Greene of Little Rock, Ark.; two sisters, Martha Husley of Woolmarket, Mississippi and Janice Broadus of Gulfport, Mississippi; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends and relatives at Temple Baptist Church in Searcy Thursday, March 17 at 1 p.m. for a sharing of memories and memorial service.

A later memorial service will take place March 25, 2011 in Gulfport, Mississippi, followed by the committal of Mr. Wenger's ashes in Coalville Cemetery, Woolmarket, Mississippi.
