Roger and Janet Wood

d. January 15, 2022

Roger and Janett Wood went together to be with the Lord on January 15th, 2022 (Not Covid related). Janett passed at 8:56 a.m., and Roger passed at 6:52 p.m. carrying their beautiful love story with them into eternity. On April 10th, 2022, the couple would have been married 57 years. Roger Glen Wood was born on August 13th, 1945, in Letona, Arkansas to Pete and Ruby Wood.

A welder the majority of his life, Roger worked all over the country for many employers, the last of them being Arkla Gas. He also had many hobbies and passions throughout his life including racing on the dirt track circuit in Arkansas and Texas, even running one of the most well-known racetracks in Texas, "The Rosebowl Speedway" in Tyler. During his later years his love shifted gears into selling fresh produce and watermelons alongside his grandson, Dalton, and his nephew, Matthew. He never met an animal that he didn't love (and that didn't love him for that matter). He was a loving Husband,Father, and Poppy who no matter what he was going through himself could always put a smile on anyone's face with a witty joke or captivating story. Janett Altom Wood was born on March 15th, 1948, in Searcy, Arkansas to Hersey Altom and Frances "Cricket" Thomason Altom Luttrell. She was a housewife who loved baking, watching stock car races, and listening to Conway Twitty and Gene Watson songs. Though she endured trials and tribulations toward the end of her lifetime her love never faded and it without a doubt knew no bounds. She was a truly beautiful soul. On April 10th, 1965, their love story began. In it, they welcomed two beautiful children Mitchell Wayne, and Sheila Renee who they loved dearly. The kids grew up, and the family continued to grow and so did their love for the new generation as well as the love that they shared with one another. They loved going to Branson and to the casino with their family, but the majority of the time their journey needed no destination, prepacking their bags into the car so that they were prepared for the unknown journey ahead. Which makes it that much more fitting that they would follow one another into a final other worldly journey to go home and be with the Lord our God. Their love was truly one of a kind and it knew no mortal limits. A connection that may we all strive to attain. She always said she wanted them to go together, and he always wanted her to be happy. Well done, Poppy, well done.
