Sterling C. "Toad" Phillips, 90 of Searcy, Arkansas passed away Sunday, July 19, 2009. Mr. Phillips was born in Searcy on October 2, 1918 to the late Sterling and Ethel Phillips. He was a member of Honey Hill Christian Union Church, a veteran of the U.S. Army where he served in WWII. He loved working on his farm, raising cattle and sitting on his porch visiting with his family.
Mr. Phillips was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Lorene B. Phillips and one daughter, Margaret Miller and son-in-law, Joe Miller.
Mr. Phillips is survived by one son, Roger and his wife Leeza Phillips of Searcy; five grandchildren, Laura Beth Phillips, Rachel Phillips, Marvin Miller, Jaunte McCollum and Michelle Miller; seven great grandchildren, Joey, Cris, Amy, Abbigail, Logan, Hannah and Raegan.
The family wishes to extend a very special thank-you to Esther Henly for taking care of Mr. Phillips and spending time with him listening to all of the old stories that Mr. Phillips always loved to share.
Visitation will be from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M., Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at Searcy-McEuen Funeral Home of Searcy, AR.
Funeral service will be 2:00 P.M., Thursday, July 23, 2009 with Bro. Keith Lewis officiating in the chapel of Searcy-McEuen Funeral Home.
Interment will follow at Gum Springs Cemetery in Searcy, Arkansas
