Ulis Vernon Laymon

Ulis Vernon Laymon, 90, of Greenbrier passed away Thursday, February 28th at Greenbrier Nursing and Rehab Center. He was born June 9, 1928 in Batesville, Arkansas to the late Sam and Ethel (McGough) Laymon.

Ulis loved to hunt and fish. He was a farmer at heart and could grow the best potatoes, watermelons, and cantaloupes. He was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend who will be dearly missed.

Left to cherish his memory are his children; three sons, Mark Laymon (Sherry) of Batesville, Matt Laymon (Pam) and Scotty Laymon (Marie) all of Greenbrier; one daughter, Eva Smithson (Ellis) of Greenbrier; sixteen grandchildren, thirty-nine great grandchildren; and two sisters, Osta Herron of Alabama and Janet of Batesville.

In addition to his parents Ulis was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Prudence Laymon; one daughter, Louise Decker; one sister, Tilda Price; and two brothers, Connie and Lynnue Laymon.

Visitation will be Monday, March 4th from 6:00-8:00 pm at Searcy McEuen Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 5th at 10:00 am in the Searcy McEuen Chapel.  Burial will follow at Old Union Cemetery in Pleasant Plains.
