Wayne H. Morris age 95 of Searcy, Arkansas passed away Monday April 12, 2010. Mr. Morris was born in Searcy, Arkansas on June 21, 1914 to the late George Morris and Beulah Langford. Wayne spent the majority of his life in Searcy. He loved Searcy and White county. He said "There isn't anything worth having that can't be found in White county." Wayne worked for Yarnell Ice Cream as a school boy. In World War II he served as a butcher in an Army hospital in Germany. He was an active member of the First Methodist Church and the First Christian Church for over seventy years. Mr. Morris was also the owner of a retail business, Morris and Son, for over 25 years. He was an avid fisherman, farmer, hunter, and raised cattle. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and first wife of 48 years, Lucie Mae Morris.
Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Odell Yingling Thomas Morris, daughters Mary Ann Bergman and husband Dan of Norman, OK; Becky Cooper and husband Brent of Searcy; one step-daughter Jayme S. Thomas of Searcy; nine grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.
The first visitation will be Thursday April 15, from 10 A.M. to 5 P.M. at the funeral home. The second visitation will be 6:00 - 8:00 P.M., Friday, April 16, at the funeral home as well.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, April 17, 2010 at Searcy- McEuen Funeral Home.
Interment will follow in the Oakgrove Cemetery in Searcy, Arkansas
