Wilma L. "Billie" Bennett age 65 was called home to be with Jesus after a long battle with breast cancer on July 6, 2008. She was born November 12, 1942 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Earl and Elizabeth Petty Wedemeyer. Billie was a devoted mother and grandmother. She was an active member of St. James Carholic church. She retired from the United States Postal Service in 1998. After retirement she served as a CASA volunteer. She loved to travel, spend time with family and work in her yard.
She is survived by her husband Jack Bennett and his sons Tony and Ricky; two sons and their wives, Edward Charles Sr. and Mia Brown of Warren, MI, William M. and Connie Brown of Searcy; three brothers, Lowell Bashore of Lapeer, MI, Pete and Cheryln Wedemeyer of Oxford, MI, and Michael and Susan Wedemeyer of New Baltimore, MI; two sisters, Marlaina and Kenneth Rawski of St. Clair Shores, MI, and Natalie and Craig Pennington of Williamston, MI; eleven grandchildren, Daniel Prior, Benjamin, Leah, Edward Jr, Justin, Chris, Victoria and Savannah Brown, Robert, Daniel and Ryan Hanson; two great grandchildren Morgan Brown and Ava Prior and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. with a rosary at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 8 at Searcy-McEuen Chapel in Searcy, AR. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 9 at St. James Catholic Church in Searcy, AR. The committal service will be at White County Memorial Gardens immediately following.
The family wishes to express its appreciation to the nurses and aids from Hospice Home Care that helped care for Billie and to Dr. Miguel Aguinaga and her faithful friends for their love and concern shown throughout her illness.
