Wilma Sue Wortham

December 17, 1944 — March 13, 2021

Wilma “Sue” Wortham, 76, of Searcy went to be with the Lord, Saturday, March 13th at Unity Health Medical Center. She was born December 17, 1944 in El Paso, Texas to the late Floyd and Ruth (Smith) Turnbow.

Sue was a great mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who was loved by all. She loved to quilt. She made everything by hand, from baby size up to king size quilts. If you have one you are blessed. Embroidering was one of her favorite things to do while traveling. Anyone who knows Sweet Sue knows of her many fine qualities and strengths, including forgiveness. As a caregiver she was a godsend to her beloved husband, Paul. Sue was a charter member of Libby Road Missionary Baptist Church in Heber Springs, Arkansas. She loved the Lord and put her faith in Him many years ago. She was secure in her faith and looked forward to her eternal home. She also dearly loved her church family. Sue was beautiful inside and out. Family was so important to her and she faithfully prayed for them every day. Her love and care for her husband, in his battle with Alzheimer’s is an example we can all learn from.

Left to cherish her memory is her two sons, Mark Wortham (Susan) of Searcy; Tim Wortham (Darla Windsor) of Judsonia; six grandchildren, Will Wortham, Tabitha Fossen, Ray Wortham, Cecelia Wortham, Daniel Wortham, and Nathan Wortham; one great granddaughter, Serenitie, and one soon to arrive great grandson, Finley Fossen; and one brother, Sam Turnbow (Jackie) of Yorkville, Illinois.

In addition to her parents, Sue was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Wortham; one son, Jonathan Wortham; one brother, Fred Turnbow; and one sister, Nita Jesse.

Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 PM, Thursday, March 18th at Searcy McEuen Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will start at 2:00 PM Thursday, March 18th in the Searcy McEuen Chapel with burial following at Gum Springs Cemetery. Officiating will be Bro. Church Roach. Pallbearers will be Mark Wortham, Tim Wortham, Will Wortham, Ray Wortham, Daniel Wortham, Nathan Wortham, Bruce Wortham, and Bill Theede. A Tribute to Sue from hospice caregiver, Letty Squire:

I’d like to offer my heartfelt condolences to Mark and Tim Wortham and to all Sue’s family and friends. I became part of Sue and Paul’s lives 6 years ago. I was Paul’s caregiver and over the last 6 years they became family to me. Mark and Tim your mother was a phenomenal lady. We shared lots of wonderful memories together. She treasured her family and friends. Her faith was very strong. Sweet Sue and Paul were great people.

Dear Sue, your memory will be a keepsake for so many, with which I will never part. God has Sue and Paul Wortham in His keeping, and until we all see them again we will have them in our hearts.

John 14:1-3

Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you, and if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also;
