Wilmer Arthur Hitchcock of Searcy, AR. passed away on 8-10-2008. He was born in Toledo, OH on June 14, 1928. He would remind us that he was born on Flag Day, and always puts up the flag. His father was William Stewart Hitchcock. Mother was Gladys Sweet Hitchcock. His father was in the Spanish American War. Wilmer (Hitch) was in World War II in the United States Coast Guard, to protect and refuel the ships in many places. He could tell many interesting stories of that time, and was proud to serve his country.
He was a member of Searcy Masonic Lodge #49 and formally a member of West Point Lodge # 493 where he served as Master for 10 years. He was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star, served as Worthy Patron and Scottish Rite. He is survived by his loving wife Wacile; two sons, Joe Hitchcock of Sherwood, AR and Dan Hitchcock of Alesa OR; one daughter, Judy Doyle of Searcy; five grandchildren and nine great grand children.
Hitch wished to be remembered not with sadness nor a formal service, but by loving and caring for each other and living our lives to the fullest as he did.
Memorials maybe made to Searcy Masonic Lodge #49.
